Hanoi Travel Bus
Trains to Sapa offer a variety of chairs, such as soft chairs, air-conditioned beds … The train leaves at 9 or 10 pm and arrives in early morning the next day.
Things to know
- To get a good seat on board, you shoud book tickets at train ticket agents or travel agents, but it costs more expensive which is higher than 8 to 10% than usual tickets.
- Train tickets from Hanoi to Lao Cai are easy to buy, but tickets from Lao Cai to Hanoi are difficult to get, it is best to book in advance.
Victoria Express Train
Victoria Express departs six times a week, departing from Hanoi Station to Lao Cai Station for about 8,5 hours. Accommodating up to 52 passengers, the Victoria Express includes two luxury sleeping cabins which are made of wood offering quiet ambiance and nice view. Getting around in Sapa
- Option 1: You can rent a motorbike for about 120,000 – 180,000 VND / ride, excluding petrol to drive to visit places.But visitors must give the motorbike back to the owner at 6 P.M., possibly later at 8:00 pm.
- Option 2: You can catch a motorbike taxi driver to get some famous tourist spots, but you should bargain the price. The price usually ranges from 100,000 VND to 150,000 VND for 4-5 locations.

Muong Hoa Valley

Roong Pooc Festival of Dzay people
Every year on the 5th day of January of lunar calendar, the Dzay people in Ta Van (Sapa district) organize the Roong Pooc festival aiming to wish for a brilliant new year. Although it is a traditional ethnic festival of the Dzay people, it now has become the festival of the entire people in Muong Hoa valley. Nao Cong Ceremony
Every year on the 5th day of the sixth lunar month, the H’Mong people, the Dzao, the Dzay Muong Hoa come to the worshiping shrine at Ta Van Village to celebrate Nao Cong Ceremony. Tet nhay Festival
Tet nhay Festival is an important and well-prepared festival of Dzao people in Ta Van people,it is usually held on the first or second day of first day of Lunar month. The ritual activities during the festival are extremely interesting with 14 dance performances, or rituals performed by the priest.
Nhan Song and Nao Song Festival
This is the festival of the Red Dzao people in Giang Ta Chai (Ta Van – Sapa) with educational aim for the villagers about prevention of deforestation. At present, the Dzao held Nhan Song Festival only after a year of serious deforestation and bad harvest.
At the festival, the “Chẩu chiếu” – the head of the forest guardians appointed by the villagers stood up to announce the law about prevention of deforestation and punishment for those who violate. After the discussion,the “Chẩu chiếu” will make a convention that every villagers should obey.
The H’Mong people at Seo Mi Ty, Den Thang – Ta Van Village as well as Lao Chai and Hau Thao Village, previously held a similar festival called “Nao Song” on the fifth day of January in Lunar calendar.
