Must-see places in Ninh Binh
Ninh Binh and Ha Long are two vertex angles of the triangle Red River Delta, with the limestone topography modified by geology over time and alluvial accretion,
Ninh Binh has the appearance of a “Halong on land”. With numerous caves, wetlands and lagoons of high tourist value such as Trang An Ecological Tourist Area, Tam Coc – Bich Dong, Van Long Wetland Nature Reserve.
In recent years, Ninh Binh is considered as an ideal destination for visitors during spring days and holidays. Let’s check out some places cannot be ignored when visiting Ninh Binh with Hanoi Travel Bus:
- Bai Dinh Temple
Located approximately 15 km far away from Ninh Binh city to the northwest, Bai Dinh Pagoda is the largest temple in Vietnam with many confirmed records such as: The largest bell in Vietnam; the highest and the most heavy bronze Buddha statue in Vietnam; the largest bronze Tam The statue set in Vietnam; the largest well in Vietnam; the most stone Arhat statues in Vietnam.
- Van Long Gulf
This is the largest wetland nature reserve in the North Delta. This nature reserve is located in the Northeast of Gia Vien district, Ninh Binh province.
Van Long is known as “no wave bay” because when travelling on a boat on the gulf, visitors will see the water surface as flat as a giant mirror. The watercolor painting reflects clearly the lines of the limestone mountains bearing the shape of the name of Meo Cao Mountain, Mam Xoi Mountain, Hom Sach Mountain, Da Ban Mountain, Nghien Mountain, Mo Coi Mountain, Co Tien Mountain … However, the water here is not blue, it is very clear to see layers of moss at the bottom.
- Thung Nang
Apart from Bich Dong about 5km travelling by motorbike is new tourist site Thung Nang which was put into operation not long. Different from the excitement of Tam Coc, this place is quiet and pristine.
According to the local, “Thung” is a wetland surrounded by rocky mountain, each of them has it own name. From Thach Bich wharf, a small boat will take you travel around the mountains to a sunny valley that local people call Thung Nang- Sunshine Swamp.
Right to the name Sunshine Swamp, the sun is shining everywhere, crossing through the leaves, crossing through the rustic cottage along the shore, piercing down to the bottom of the water to create a beautiful and peaceful scene. The deeper into the scene, the more beautiful the scene is, the more cave systems appear, multifold. There are places where you have to bow low to not touch the stalactites in the ceiling of the cave, there are places you have to look up high to capture into your eyes the mysterious nature of this place.
- Dancing Cave Temple
Lying under the Mua Mountain in the eco-tourism complex of Khe Ha Ha village,
Ninh Xuan, Hoa Lu, Ninh Binh. The road to the top of the mountain was built by the Great Wall architecture with nearly 500 stone steps.
From here visitors can admire the beautiful scenery of Tam Coc – a famous scenic spot in Ninh Binh. Dancing Cave is also invested to become an eco-tourism combining climbing sport.
According to a legend, when returning to Hoa Lu, establishing Am Thai Vi, King Tran often came here to hear the women singing and dancing. Therefore, this place was named Dancing Cave.
- Trang An
This is the most famous tourist resort in Ninh Binh. With the beautiful scenery, Trang An has been recognized by UNESCO as a natural and cultural heritage of the world. The scene here is created from rivers flowing through the limestone mountains, forming numerous natural mysterious caves.
- Hoa Lu – The Ancient Vietnam Capital
Located on Truong Yen commune, Hoa Lu district, this ancient capital Hoa Lu includes Tran King Temple, Le King Temple and other works. Coming here visitors are guided to take a ceremony to visit the temple and hear about the temple. This place was the first capital of the feudal state. Hoa Lu now covers an area of over 13 km2, in which the special protection area is over 3 km2 and the buffer zone is 10 km2. Today, the relic ancient capital Hoa Lu is an attractive destination for many tourists who want to learn about history and prayer festival.
- Tran Temple
Placed in the Trang An Ecotourism Area, in Ninh Hai Commune, Hoa Lu District. It is said that this temple was built by Tran Kings for religious activities during the years of the retreat in Vu Lam, in preparation for the resistance against the Nguyen Mong invaders. Tran Temple is also called Noi Lam Temple (temple in the forest).
Tran Temple worships Quy Minh Dai Vuong and Hoang Phi Lady- wife of god Quy Minh. According to a legend, the god Quy Minh was a general of the Hung King, assigned to manage Son Nam town.
